In another instance, chests in the mine appeared completely black whereas with the DirectX 8 renderer they did not. For example, there is a white border between the polygonal planes that separate the old camp from the rest of the world. While I haven't encountered any serious issues with the DirectX 11 renderer, I have noticed graphic anomalies or artifacts on occasion.

It's one reason to hesitate with my replay, too. Its potential for further modding is immense IMO.

I also want to point out REGoth, which is a project to create an open source runtime environment similiar to OpenMW. LudoLense on Youtube likes to talk about the Gothic games now and then. It gives a glimpse about its merits and shows stuff I like about series like for example how sword training and its progression are realized.Īrhn.eu's retrospective (who also did the two hours long documentary about Witcher 1 and its cancelled predecessor) The only thing I know is its Polish dub seems to be excellent and beloved.Ī retrospective by the channel Durmin Paradox I enjoyed and like to recommend.

In regards to the English localisation and its quality, I have only played the German release. (You are supposed to connect your input with the end of your previous swing. Like how lessons in sword fighting given by your trainer are actual lessons, which are applied by your character and tell you en passant how you connect strikes to combos. I think it quite often pulls something off that is to be admired: Explaining mechanics by fluff text/in-world dialogue.
